Case Study – Supplier Material Verification Procedure

MES Ningbo Office has been adopted a procedure to verify the designated material to be used in a project. With this proper method, we have prevented the possibility of wrong material being used in production. Here’re what we do:

1. Supplier will cut the sample material from a product and identify the date / alloy / part number and MES engineer will supervise the sampling. Sample will be sent to MES Ningbo Office for material verification;

2. Suppliers are required to submit all alloy samples used for MES products on a regular basis. Samples of unconventional materials are required to be submitted before production starts. Diameter >40mm Thickness>8mm Roughness Ra3.2;

3. Suppliers submits material samples for verification;

4. Metrics Ningbo uses spectrum gun to verify the material;

5. Upload the data and reports to SharePoint;

6. Supplier retests parts by spectrum meter, supervised by MES engineers;

7. Conform to the drawings, MES gives the green light;

8. If material verification fails, MES freezes shipments of this part till supplier’s CAPA are being accepted. Supplier conducts the unconformity product procedure, conducts CAPA;
